Episode #51 (February 15, 2013): Popes can resign???

hotcupmugA special, unscheduled response to the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.

Check out our initial reactions when we heard the news, and some of our other (awesome) thoughts.

Jane recommends an article by Brendan O’Neill.

Rex Murphy had a good reflection too. Check it out.

Fr. Matthew Ramsay wrote a neat reflection that was published in the Globe and Mail.

Pope Benedict XVI’s recently commented about Vatican II at a meeting with the priests of the Archdiocese of Rome.

conclaveWhat are your thoughts? How did you hear of the Pope’s resignation, and what were your initial feelings? What, in your opinion, will be Pope Benedict’s legacy? We’d love to hear from you!

Colm Leyne, of Episode #16 fame, is turning 30. So help people have clean water.

The pope (Benedict XVI) is on the Twitter (the Twitface?): @pontifex. He’s good. He’s called it the “digital continent” (citation needed).

Some awesome possum Catholic blogs (according to Jane): Jennifer Fulwiler (and her own personal reality show Minor Revisions), Small Things from Ginny Sheller, and Kassie Rutherford. Darryl like the National Catholic Register blogs as well.

Song of the Week Month: I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing) by the Barenaked Ladies (BNL) and Chris Hadfield, who is in freaking space!!!

Episode #42 (July 30, 2012): Holy Crap! It’s a towel!

This episode is the answer to life, the universe and everything. Therefore we are joined by the elusive Fr. Geoffrey Young of Holy Spirit Parish fame. He’s a hoopy frood.

Today we’re talking about the Year of Faith (YoF), starting in October. That’s all we know about it.

  • Porta Fidei – the door of faith – it’s the document that announced the YoF
  • “Caritas Christi urget nos.” See paragraph 7.
  • Joy & enthusiasm.
  • Highways lead somewhere. Highways have two-way traffic. Life is highway.
  • Vatican document on the new evangelization was released in June: Instrumentum Laboris. Great stuff.
  • The Catechism was released 20 years ago. Nifty.
  • By saying nothing we say something too.
  • The parish bulletin: the parish tweet of the ’50s.
  • Fr. Robert Barron has a series: Catholicism.
  • Lino Rulli has a book: Sinner.
