Episode #42 (July 30, 2012): Holy Crap! It’s a towel!

This episode is the answer to life, the universe and everything. Therefore we are joined by the elusive Fr. Geoffrey Young of Holy Spirit Parish fame. He’s a hoopy frood.

Today we’re talking about the Year of Faith (YoF), starting in October. That’s all we know about it.

  • Porta Fidei – the door of faith – it’s the document that announced the YoF
  • “Caritas Christi urget nos.” See paragraph 7.
  • Joy & enthusiasm.
  • Highways lead somewhere. Highways have two-way traffic. Life is highway.
  • Vatican document on the new evangelization was released in June: Instrumentum Laboris. Great stuff.
  • The Catechism was released 20 years ago. Nifty.
  • By saying nothing we say something too.
  • The parish bulletin: the parish tweet of the ’50s.
  • Fr. Robert Barron has a series: Catholicism.
  • Lino Rulli has a book: Sinner.

Hashtag of the Week: #tomato

Question of the Week: Why are the Roughriders having a hard time finishing a game??!

  2. Thanks you guys! I love the emphasis on the joy of faith! Two problems: 1) what if you are tired and maybe not joyful? 2) what if you are super joyful, people like that, but they still don’t care enough to go to church?

Um, Fr. Young, I respectfully ask you to retract your comments on the double lane highway as “it helps you get out of PA quicker”. Offense taken.

Fr. Millette, you love Lino Rulii. It’s funny. Also, you said that sacrifice is hard. Haha, yeah so true but that’s what makes it rewarding! Right?

I think the biggest thing I appreciated out of this is the lost art of the phone call. But also of the visit. Andy and Jane, I was in Saskatoon and I didn’t stop by to see you, sorry. I want to see your new place. I will be there soon I promise!

Answer to question of the week. The Roughies used all their tricks in the first three games. They will continue to use the same plays and strategies – which by now all the other good coaches have figured out – to have a losing season. The only exception to this rule is when/if Mr. Durant ignores a coaches call and plays intuitively, creatively, on a hunch.

  3. Andy says:

Hey Travis. Thanks for the comments! I meant to reply week ago. But I procrastinate. My favorite thing about procrastinate is the Latin roots: pro = for, cras = tomorrow.

I suppose we should watch our PA remarks, eh? A significant number of our regular listeners come from there (and we love all/both of you!) 🙂

I think we should make a Hot Cup drinking game: have a drink every time Darryl mentions Lino (though my liver might not appreciate that).

And yes, we definitely need to have you over again! We just bottled a couple batches of wine, and one of them would be better in the summer.

And I’ll leave the football discussions to Darryl.
